2016 Summer Vacation Part 5 - Blanco State Park

Our last spot to stop at on our vacation was Blanco State Park.  We spent 5 nights at this park (June 5-10, 2016) and chose this park because it was a good central location for touring Austin, San Antonio and Fredricksburg!  I will share pictures as I narrate our stay in this area.

Part 1  - BLANCO

I will admit that this was not my favorite park to stay at.  It was a small park right on the Blanco River.  it was easy access to the river so it was a popular hang out and swimming hole for locals.  The river was really the only attraction at the park.  The kids loved the little swimming area that was created on the river though and it served as a good end to our busy days out and about!

Here are the pictures we got from the park - most were of the kids swimming.

 Part 2 - Austin
So on Monday we headed to Austin to tour the Capital and Visitor Center.  Seth says this was this was his favorite day of the whole trip!  He was fascinated!!

These are the original desks from when they first built the building - they are still being used today.  They traded out the ink wells for microphone stands.

These chandeliers were the first piece of electricity added to the building.  Each cluster of lights is in the shape of each letter of the word Texas.

Part 3 - Pedernales Falls State Park

On our way home from Austin we stopped at Pedernales Falls State Park.  We will definitely be back to stay and spend some more time at this park!

On my last post I will highlight our trip to San Antonio, Fredricksburg and LBJ Ranch and State Park!

Until next time,
Kellie
